Methylcyclopentane is an organic compound with the chemical formula CH3C5H9. It is a colourless, flammable liquid with a faint odor. It is a component of the naphthene fraction of petroleum. It usually is obtained as a mixture with cyclohexane. It is mainly converted in naphthene reformers to benzene.. Methylcyclopentane is not perfectly planar and can pucker to alleviate stress in its structure.

生产方法
甲基环戊烷主要存在于工业已烷中,含量约占5%。但由于它的沸点与正已烷的沸点(68.74℃)接近,采用一般精馏方法很难彻底分离,因此采用与甲醇共沸蒸馏方法,可获得纯度99%以上的甲基环戊烷。 用作溶剂及色谱分析标准物质,也用于有机合成。
